How to check what ChatGPT says about your business (the 60-second test)
June 7, 2026
Before you spend a dollar or an hour on "AI visibility," find out where you actually stand. Two ways to do it.
The manual way (free, ~15 minutes)
Open ChatGPT and ask, exactly like a customer would: "Who should I call for [your trade] in [your town]?" Note whose names come back. Then ask "What do you know about [your business name]?" and see whether it knows you exist, what you do, and where. Repeat in Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude - each one has its own picture of your business, and they disagree more often than you would think.
What you are listening for
Three levels: does the AI know you exist? Does it recommend you when asked for your trade in your town? And does it get the details right - services, area, phone? Knowing you exist but recommending your competitor is the most common (and most painful) result.
The 30-second way
We built a checker that runs this exact test across all four AI apps at once and turns it into a 0-100 score, with a per-app breakdown of who knows you, who recommends you, and who draws a blank. Free, no signup, no card.
What to do with the result
Score above 80: you are in good shape - re-check monthly so you stay there. Score in the middle: fix your listings and homepage language first. Score near zero: do not panic - established businesses with zero AI visibility are extremely common, and the fixes are known and mechanical. The expensive thing is not knowing.
